how to know when coffee is finished brewing-since level of coffee in the metal carafe (or reservoir) cannot be seen ?

Hello, users of this coffee maker should be able to hear whether or not this specific brewer is still in the process of running water, or is finished. It does have a pause feature that allows users to pour coffee before the process is done, without spilling coffee onto the plate. Thank you!

QUESTION
Hi!
I am happy with this model of coffee maker, however, I am frustratedas I want a PERMANENT coffee filter instead of using the paper ones. I have been to 3 stores who all sell this Cuisinart Model DCC-450, but, they don't carry the permanent filter for them and said I had to email Cuisinart.
Can you possibly help me with this problem?
