These oven mitts are the very best choice out there. I've bought them for myself and as gifts. Remember: There are several lengths. One friend got a new oven and she kept burning her arms when taking stuff in and out of it due to its lower position. I got her the mitts with the longest length arms (18") and she is very happy with them.
They are a little thin, so don't expect that you can hold a 500-degree dutch oven for 10 minutes. That's not what they're for. If you need that, buy foundry gloves that are used for firing pottery.
But if you want mitts that protect from steam, are fireproof, have some "feel" through the material, can handle very hot stuff for reasonable periods of time, and you're not afraid to spend a couple of extra dollars than the Brand X cheap stuff, then these mitts are the ones to get. Quality doesn't cost, it pays. The satisfaction of using a quality item continues long after the purchase price is forgotten.
