Question:
There is a removable cover on top (opposite of the drive end). Would appear to accept an attachment of some type. Are there any attachments for this unit?
Answer:
The attachments that are included with this product are a flat beater, whisk, and dough hook.

This mixer has a 1 horse power motor. This is also 800 watts.

what holds the bowl to the stand, is there some kind of lock to it ?

To keep the bowl in place it twists and locks into place.
