Is it possible to keep it on kg permanently or will it always switch back to lbs?

even after installing new battery still says low battery and cannot weight anything ? Any ideas why?

Hello, it sounds as though your current scale may have an electronic issue. We would recommend contacting the Rubbermaid manufacturer directly for assistance with this error, and for more information on whether or not this product can be replaced (the scale includes a 15 month warranty).
