How much clearance is there for water below the insert? There doesn't appear to be much - which means the rice could be in the water.
Hi, I believe the rice is supposed to be in the water, in the bottom pan. The steam used from cooking the rice cooks the vegetables in the insert on top of it, and when it's done cooking, the rice absorbs the remaining water.

does the stemer basket have holes on side or bottom? If bottom how does rice stay in?
Hello, the rice goes in the water in the bottom pan. The steam used from cooking the rice cooks the vegetables in the insert on top of it, and when it's done cooking, the rice absorbs the remaining water. Thank you!

What are the largest size that this product comes in? I need a larger size.
Hello, the largest size that we carry in this design is the 5 Qt. size. We do have other brands/designs of vegetable steamers in larger sizes, such as the 8 Qt. item #380525. Thank you!

I would like a double bouler that allows me to place rice in milk and have it over a boiling pot to steam and absorbe the milk. Do you have such a pan? I had one from the 1930's when my father sold Wear Ever Dore to dore...now it is gone with the wind!
Hello, we do not have a pan specifically for this purpose, but we do carry several double boilers, such as items #175201 and #101005. Thank you!
