does the barrel open inside without a shelve?

ANSWER
Hello, this barrel has a false bottom at 7" down. The barrel can be flipped over for a bottom at 23" down. You might also be interested in item 200601, which does not have a false bottom. Thank you!

Hi, this barrel does have a bottom. It also has a "false bottom" about 7" down, which makes it great for peanuts. It is not recommended to be used as a seat. Thank you.

QUESTION
How deep is the opening of this barrel. From the photo it looks as though it might be about 15 or 20 inches deep. I am interested in using this as a display barrel, so I would need to know whether an insert is required. Thanks.

ANSWER
Hello, the total height of the barrel is 30". There is a false bottom that is 7" down from the top. If the barrel is flipped over, this false bottom is 23" down. The barrel has a 20" diameter. If you are using any type of liquid inside this barrel you will need a liner, otherwise is is great for displaying dry goods. Thank you!

we are using them (2) to make a bar for poolside. We are bolting the 2 together, we have polyurethaned the outside with gloss, installing a copper top and using 4 x 4 cedar for the bottom with wheels. We are also, in the back, bolting the stays with a 1: carriage bolt, and cutting to make doors that open for storage. Will send pics when complete.
