Bon Chef S3016 Manhattan 18/8 Stainless Steel Demitasse Spoon - Dozen
NICE SPOON BUT NOT 18/10 AS DESCRIBED
I purchased this spoon and the matching oyster fork of the same size. Both described as being made of 18/10 stainless steel. The fork arrived first (about 3 months prior) to the spoon. I could not have been more please. Exactly what I ordered and stampled 18/10 on the back. When the spoons finally arrived they were the same lovely design but did not seem to have the same luster. They were stamped TBS. I called Wass. to ask about this, they refered me to the company. My receipt and the box the spoons came in were identified as being 18/10 but I suspected they could be the BonSteel nickelfree composite. The company rep. told me the TBS identified the factory where they were produced, should there be a problem with them in the future. After several emails I was told that this spoon is not manufactured in stainless steel and the price difference I was charged could be credited.
It is my understanding that nickel free silverware is very stong and will hold up well to rust and piting. I do not believe, from my own experience and what I have read, that it maintains it's luster as well. Thus Bon Chefs reccommendations to use metal safe detergent and low temp washing.
The less expensive BonSteel composite may be perfect for your needs. Just know if you order this that Bon Chef told me they do not make it in 18/10, even though it continues to advertised on major restaurant supply websites as being sold as 18/10.
