Are both the upper and lower sections made of glass?
Yes, Both are made of glass, You need to watch carefully that you don't let it boil dry in the brewing process. There shoud be about 1/8" inch water left in the bottom when you remove it from the burner. If you let it boil dry the bottom glass will crack.

Do you get the top and stand for this? I have a yama and when I take off the top, it doubles as a place to put the top half into the little round tube which sometimes causes the glass tube to break. Does this one have something to put the top carafe into to balance it? What kind of filter is used with this one? With my yama it uses cloth filters that I have to replace. Thanks for any help.
You do receive the top and bottom with this coffee maker. There is a glass funnel that the water will go through to mix with the coffee grounds. There is a hook that is connected from the filter to the glass funnel.

does it work on gaz burner.thank you vacum coffe maker
Hi. This can work on a gas burner. They recommend that a heat diffuser plate be used with it to prevent damage, but i've read some peoples' experience without a diffuser. They just heat it at a medium-high setting.

MANY YEARS AGO AND I AM 72 NOW I HAD A STAINLESS STEAL COFFEE MAKER WHICH WAS BASED ON GRAVITY... THE WATER HEATED ROSE TO UPPER PART AND THEN FILTERED DOWN., I SINCE HAVE A GLASS MAKER BUT I AM UNCOMFOTYABLE TO USE GLASS ITEM AS I AM AFRAID IT WILL BREAK.... DO YOU STILL PRODUCE THE BODEM IN STAINLESS OR CAN YOU SUGGEST WHERE I MIGHT FIND IT.... THANKS FOR YOUR HELP
Hi. Sorry, I can't seem to find any manufacturers that still make the stainless steel vacuum coffee makers. Perhaps some vintage stores or private online sellers would have them. Some brands that used to make them are Nicro, Adcraft, and Clydeware. Thanks!

what heat source does it need.
Hi. This is for use on stovetops. This can work on a gas burner, electric top, and methylated spirits stove. They recommend that for gas stoves, a heat diffuser plate be used with it to prevent damage, but i've read some peoples' experience without a diffuser. They just heat it at a medium-high setting. Thanks!

I had one of these back in the late 60s and early 70s. My question : Do I need filters. I can remember that it did make very good coffee. I will have to learn all over again how to do this.
Hello, this item includes a nylon filter. Thank you!
