QUESTION
Are there any limits (time, temp, etc) in using 5934N in an oven for cooking beef.
ANSWER
Hi, the only limit would be is if you wanted your beef cooked over 210 degrees, since this thermometer doesn't read over 210 degrees. Otherwise, this thermometer should work fine. Thank you.

QUESTION
what is the temperature maximum of the oven for this thermometer.? 450 degrees?
ANSWER
Hello,
I just spoke with customer service from Taylor Precision and they said that the 450 degree temp is fine. You just have to make sure that the probe is inserted completely into the meat to get an accurate reading.
Thanks

QUESTION
This item claims to be dishwasher safe. I recently purchased another, more expensive Taylor Prom Dial Meat Thermometer claiming to be dishwasher safe, but when I received it, it was clearly marked on the package DO NOT IMMERSE IN WATER OR USE IN DISHWASHER.
I just want to ensure this product is dishwasher safe because I lost the one I had from many years ago.
Can you confirm the dishwasher clam, please?
Thank you.
ANSWER
Hello, this thermometer cannot be used in the dishwasher. According to the manufacturer, the cleaning procedure is as follows: Do not immerse thermometer in water. Not for use in dishwashers. Clean stem with hot, soapy water and wipe head with damp cloth. A scouring pad can be used to remove grease. We are sorry for the confusion - the description will be updated to reflect the change. Thank you!

Hi. You can do a boiling water test to see how close the reading gets. Water boils at 212 degrees F. Thanks!

QUESTION
I have a 5939 which has a circle with the letters NEF enclosed, and another one w/o a model #. A few years ago, I bought one because my wife was suspect of the accuracy the one which she had been using. She has passed on and I don't know which was the newer one. They read much differently. I brought water to a boil. Temperatures were vastly diferent. I added a candy thermometer and got a third reading. I inserted an instant-read dial. I then had 4 different readings. What do I do, Coach?
I am 87 and have to rely on accuracy.
ANSWER
Hi. The boiling point of water in fahrenheit is 212 degrees, so trust the one that is closest to that reading. If any of your thermometers can be re-calibrated (there would be a hex dial behind the face), you can adjust the dial, or if they cannot be re-calibrated, write down the difference in temperature and keep that in mind for future readings. Sorry, this particular thermometer cannot be calibrated. Thanks!
