Yes, this will work on the 5000 series and the blade can be used as a wet blade but it is mostly used for crushing ice

Are you absolutely sure this works with the 3600, as well as the 3600+? The 3600 has a six-sided peg, whereas the 3600+ has a 12 sided peg.

Do I need to purchase the drive socket with this...or does it already come with it?? In other words...do I need to purchase any other parts, or is this item "ready to use?"

Hi. Item #580123 is the Polycarbonate Container with ice blade assembly & lid, and does not include a drive socket. Vita-Mix does not use one standard drive socket, so you would need to get the one for the right blender model that you have. For example, we have item #580229. Please check the parts diagram for your blender to find the correct part #. Thanks!

Scott, Item number 580123 will not fit your Vitamix VM0103 machine. This replacement container is for a commercial unit. I have contacted Vita-mix and they have 3 sizes that will fit your mixer 64 Oz. - Part Number 015856, 48 Oz. - part number 015255 and 32 Oz. part number 015842. We do not carry these, but they said they have some kind of replacement program for products that are out of warranty. I would go to www.servicevitamix.com.
