Question:
can this device be used for making tomato juice that is to separate the pulp fro juice after boiling the tomatoes
Answer:
Hi. The holes in the sieve are 3mm in diameter, so I don't think it can separate the juice from the pulp. This food mill would work better for a sauce. Thanks!

Question:
I make a huge amount of krautburgers a day, and am looking for something more efficient than a collander to separate the water off the meat mixture in an expeditious manner. But I do not want to break the meat and cabbage up in really small pieces, are these mills something I need to look into or do you have another product that would work better. We cook a batch of probably 10 to 20 gallons at a time and are trying to drain the juice now with a potato masher and a collander, which isn't working well now that we're getting busier.
Answer:
Hi. This food mill might not work because it would just grind the meat/cabbage mixture together into smaller, uniform pieces. I looked up some recipes on krautburgers, and I couldn't find a specific method of draining the juice out of the mixture. Besides the collander and masher, you can probably try squeezing the mixture in a tea towel/cheesecloth, or cook out the water. Another recipe said to not add water. We have a few cheesecloths on our site like item #122603. Maybe a cheesecloth used with a salad spinner might work to spin the water out. Item #157020. Thanks! |
