Nice heavy weight implies better heat retention. The addition of silicon and the glaze hopefully keeps aluminum out of food, a health concern. The glaze also contributes to easy muffin removal. The muffins drop out after a few bumps and shakes. Fats in the recipe can be reduced and still be successful. I bake only whole-grain types. I have sought a pan like this for years. No special care except to avoid contact with metallic objects to prevent glaze scratching. I'm very pleased. The cup size make a REAL muffin, not some wimpy "garden club" micro-muffin.
