Kitchen of Life

When it comes to community service, Wasserstrom encourages and supports its employees to engage in volunteer activities. In fact, Wasserstrom’s leadership team regularly organizes events such as food drives, fundraising, blood drives, and supporting local schools and educational initiatives. This not only helps strengthen the bond between the company and our community but also fosters a sense of pride and satisfaction among employees as they contribute to the greater good.

Wasserstrom’s most recent volunteer efforts led employees to the Kitchen of Life, a nonprofit organization that teaches students social–emotional and life skills through culinary arts in a hands-on group cooking experience.

Kitchen of Life provides an immersive environment where students can engage in activities that promote resilience, connection and a sense of belonging.

Our volunteers were assigned to a group of three students to offer encouragement, act as positive role models, help participants practice advocating for themselves, and to weave the theme of the day, Competence, into the kids’ culinary activities.

Wasserstrom volunteers Rodney Wasserstrom, Gary Mangelson, Shelly Myers, Cody Miller, and Michal Slominski assist the kids at Kitchen of Life with their culinary adventure.

Wasserstrom’s volunteer initiatives not only benefit the communities themselves but also have positive effects on employee morale by investing time and effort in causes beyond our core business operations. Thank you to our most recent participants and to Kitchen of Life for this awesome opportunity and for helping the children in our community learn and grow.
