{"id":3729,"date":"2019-05-17T10:27:41","date_gmt":"2019-05-17T14:27:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.wasserstrom.com\/blog\/?p=3729"},"modified":"2019-05-24T07:18:45","modified_gmt":"2019-05-24T11:18:45","slug":"nra-president-retirement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.wasserstrom.com\/blog\/2019\/05\/17\/nra-president-retirement\/","title":{"rendered":"National Restaurant Association President &#038; CEO Announces Retirement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WASHINGTON, DC &#8211; After 12 years successfully leading one of Washington\u2019s largest and most influential trade associations, advancing and protecting all aspects of the restaurant and foodservice industry, <strong>National Restaurant Association (NRA)<\/strong>\u00a0and <strong>National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation President &amp; CEO Dawn Sweeney<\/strong> announced today that she will step down when her current contract ends at the end of 2019.\u00a0 Until then, she will continue to lead the Association and Foundation, gain Board approval for the 2020-2024 strategic plan, and assist Board leadership in the search for a new CEO.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cServing and leading the restaurant industry during this historic timeframe, when foodservice has grown to an $863 billion business employing over 15 million professionals, has been the most fulfilling experience of my career,\u201d said Dawn Sweeney.\u00a0 \u201cWe have accomplished much together, including important public policy victories at all levels of government, a broadened membership base representative of the industry at large, and a revitalized organization that has expanded and bolstered its advocacy and business capabilities.\u00a0 I have had the privilege of serving for 12 years \u2014 the longest tenure of any position in my career.\u00a0 It is vital to me that we work to ensure the Association and Foundation have a smooth and seamless transition to plan for the future.\u201d<\/p>\n<style>.embed-container { position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0; overflow: hidden; max-width: 100%; } .embed-container iframe, .embed-container object, .embed-container embed { position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; }<\/style>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GdgxwXUwL7Y\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Since Sweeney joined the Association in 2007, membership has <strong>grown by almost 50 percent<\/strong>, and the organization has added members from every sector of the industry.
