The cause of death has been reported as suicide.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CNN<\/strong> confirmed\u00a0 Bourdain&#8217;s passing with a statement:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain. His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Bourdain, a graduate of the<strong> Culinary Institute of America<\/strong>, broke onto the scene with his 2000 book, <em><strong>Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly<\/strong><\/em>. He would go on to host a number of television programs focusing on food, culture and travel.<\/p>\n<p>His first show was <em><strong>A Cook&#8217;s Tour<\/strong><\/em> for the Food Network. He soon found success with the Travel Channel show <em><strong>Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations<\/strong><\/em> that ran for 9 seasons. The show had Bourdain traveling the world sampling local culture and cuisine. It was nominated for several Emmy awards and won for <strong>Outstanding Cinematography for Nonfiction Programming<\/strong> in 2009 and 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Bourdain would go on to host several other series including <em><strong>The Layover<\/strong><\/em> (also for the <strong>Travel Channel<\/strong>) and <em><strong>Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown<\/strong><\/em> for <strong>CNN<\/strong>. The eleventh season of the show premiered in April of this year.<\/p>\n<p>Bourdain was known for his &#8220;rock star&#8221; persona and was dubbed the bad boy of the celebrity chef scene. A heavy smoker and drinker, Bourdain was unabashed about his hard living lifestyle and he often brought that aspect of his life to his television work.<\/p>\n<p>Bourdain leaves behind a daughter, Ariane, who was born in 2007. Although twice divorced, Bourdain had begun dating Italian actress <strong>Asia Argento<\/strong> in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>With his larger-than-life personality and penchant for bringing far-flung cuisine to the attention of the American public, Bourdain will be greatly missed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Television personality, author and celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain has died at age 61.
