QUESTION
Hi I am interested in purchasing black sand for an art installation to create a black sand box. This would require quite a lot of sand, I imagine with a depth of 2' and a surface area of about 20' x 20'. I am curious why this sand is labelled for urns? What is this black sand generally used for? Also seeing as this would be a huge investment, I wonder if any wholesale prices or bulk deals are possible. How much surface area would a 23 lb box achieve with my goal in mind? Let me know as soon as possible. Thank you so much!! Sincerely, Mo Ritter

ANSWER
Hi. This is black quartz sand used for ashtrays or cigarette urns, so that's why it's labeled as such for people who are looking for this particular item. A 23-pound bag can fill 10 sand urn tops, which look about 7" in diameter each. It looks like the ashtray urns are filled 2-4 inches deep. Sorry, we are unable to test the actual surface area. For large orders, we would have to handle that by phone through customer service.
