QUESTION
this seems to cook a turkey much faster than the oven. Can you tell me how much faster it cooks so that I don't keep over cooking my 16 pound bird

ANSWER
Hello, according to the manual, a 14-18 lb. whole turkey should be cooked for 2-3 hours at 325 degrees F. Thank you!

QUESTION
When cooking Hot dogs and saurcraut in one of these, do you put water under the roaster pan? At what temperature should I heat/ or steam the hot dogs and craut?

ANSWER
Hi. Yes, for steaming, you put water in the insert pan under the rack. Preheat roaster oven to 450ºF (230ºC). You may need a colander or a separate pan to put the hot dogs and sauerkraut into. Cover and steam according to the recipe's instructions. Thanks!

When I ordered it, the picture and description were for a Hamilton Beach roaster oven and I received a Nesco. I had a Hamilton Beach and loved it. It outlined the meat/poultry type and cooking temperatures etc on the face of the roaster by the temperature dial - that was very convenient. The Nesco roaster does not have that feature. I ordered this because of the picture and description on the website - I would have liked to receive what the picture described. The Nesco is fine, but not exactly what I wanted.
