Question:
What is the difference between a planetary mixer and a spiral mixer? Is the motion essentially the same except that the bowl of the spiral mixer rotates? I am looking at this mixer for a technical application and need the machine to orbit in both directions and for the shaft to spin in both directions. Is this possible to do with a planetary or a spiral mixer?
Answer:
Hi. The planetary mixer is usually a vertical design and the spiral mixer is horizontal. A planetary mixer has an agitator that moves and the bowl stays stationary, whereas the spiral mixers have a spiral agitator that stays in place, but the bowl moves. Spiral mixers are specialized for dough, and planetary mixers are versatile and mix more types of items. Spiral agitators can rotate in both directions. We have 2 Hobart Spiral Mixers, item #s: 109975 and 434361

Question:
What is the smallest sized batch one can run on this mixer? We have a wide range of batch sizes.
Answer:
Hello, this mixer should be able to use small batches and large batches. It has low speed and high speed options, with timers for both. Under the Literature tab for this product is a manual, which includes a chart detailing batch sizes. Thank you! |
