What are the dimensions of the jar?
Answer:
The height is 5-1/2" and the diameter is 2-7/8"

In the picture, it looks as if the metal top might twist to close up the shaker holes when not in use. Is this the case? If not, are there any other tops without holes that could be ordered to fit these?
Answer:
The closest we have right now is a sugar shaker lid. Item number 240825. As of right now the manufacturer does not have a solid lid for this beehive glass shaker.
