QUESTION
My husband put my new vollrath wear ever pan in the dishwasher. When I stopped yelling at him, I noticed the finish was ruined on the pan. Is it still safe to use without a protective finish? Thank you. And my husband feels very bad about his screw up.

ANSWER
Hi. You can still use the pan, but the pan will have trouble with things sticking…this can be solved with applying a cooking spray or oil to the pan. Thanks!

Wanted a better sheet for roasting veggies and meats in the oven. I use with the Nordic ware cooling rack - great combo. Pan cooks evenly, clean up is a snap and not had warping like I do with my other sheet pans. Great pan.

I used it in typical day to day use, bought this as an investment ("the only pan I'll need to buy") based on the Cooks Illustrated reviews. 1 year in, both pans have permanently warped (opposite corner will be 0.5" raised when pan is on a flat surface). I've primarily used this for baking (cookies) and roasting (vegetables) at 350-400F. Not sure what is the cause. Contacted Vollrath and they said this was a typical but didn't warranty. Oh well. They still work great, just annoying that it warps like a cheap pan.

These are great baking sheets. They are heavy duty and very sturdy. They clean up well. I gave them a 4 star rating only because they are larger than I realized. I have arthritis in both hands and so they are too heavy and to big to handle with only one hand.

Read about this pan in Cook's Illustrated. Nice pan but they forgot to mention that the edges, though rolled, feel sharp. That's disconcerting-

I am familiar with Vollrath products. I own 3 of the cookie sheets. I've had this half-size sheet pan for a few weeks and I completely satified. I love the product for their quality and how well they are for baking. Best of all, they are Made in the USA! They clean up beautifully, regardless of what I bake. I have nothing negative to say about Vollrath. I will note that I do NOT put them in the dishwasher, and that's okay with me.

These are the sheets that Cook's Illustrated has recommended for years. Model 5314 / Vollrath / Wear-Ever stamped on back of sheets - Made in USA. I ordered 3 more - same thickness, quality as the original two I bought many years ago. Great for all baking and roasting needs. Recommend hand washing as many dishwasher detergents will darken the aluminium.
